Straight after our arrival, Costas rescued 2kg of Dandelion (Löwenzahn) from the lawn before it was mowed. Best way to consume: Boiled and served with olive oil, garlic, and lemon.
Always plenty of supply (because in areas that the lawn mower never reaches) is Gout weed (Giersch) – it’s actually quite a pest. It can be eaten like spinach (or dandelion for that matter). You can find most of it under the copper beech (Blutbuche) and around the two plum trees next to the yellow garage.
Also, look out for Borage (Borretsch), beautiful and apparently very nice in salads (never tried yet …).
Some chives (Schnittlauch) are growing in the bed under the windows (next to lavender).
It’s getting more and more difficult to find AMAZING stuff on Tidan’s weekly flea market. However, have rarely managed to return home emptyhanded. This salad bowl is the latest arrival in the kitchen. Love it!
When Kristina and I walked past the preserved Vallby Sörgården (just on the other side of the train line), we were lucky to meet a woman who gave us a private tour through the house tha is otherwise closed at this time of the year. In one of the rooms, I found this old photograph of Flistad on the wall. The wallpapers in the house, by the way, are one of the most interesting details. She showed us a book with samples of all the different original wallpapers used in the house.

In the old tingshuset (house of justice) in Moholm, approx. 7 km from Snaerva, opened a new business with cafe, and boutique. Can be booked for groups and they apparently even have guest rooms. Check their website for opening times.
Cakes and ambiente are amazing, absolutely worth a visit!
The only drawback is the immediate surroundings. Moholm is a somewhat sad and bleak community. And the house is next to the stambanan railways and a large bridge. It all looks a bit surreal …
Go to Google Maps, search for ‘Tidan’, place Streetview onto Skövdevägen, and you can drive along all Tidan sights in sunny springtime. Apart from a perfect pic of the Konditoriet and my favourite villa (opposite the supermarket), you can even see the sky above you. Genius.
Immer noch keine Mikrowelle und keine Spülmaschine, aber neue Farbe: die Küche in Snärva.
